Headless Naked Man

That is all...

TYPE

I've been experimenting more with graphic design lately. Typography is very interesting. It's crazy how people make a whole font...takes a lot of work! I've been making pages for a fashion magazine which are on my webby site. These are just some doodles I was experimenting with as many fashion brands use loose, sketchy type.

Tom Hardy Digital Painting

I gave up on traditionally painting Tom Hardy so I used him to practice digital painting. I need to work on clothing and hair. Very hard to do!

A Pig, Cow, Sheep & Chicken!

This is me attempting to create child- like characters! I love the traditional water colour look in some children's books. Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers is a lovely one.
I thought I would have a go painting with my gouache paints. Only problem was - my scanner made everything look horrible! I tidied up everything in Photoshop but they look so much nicer on paper.

Farm Animal Sketches

I've been reading a few blogs lately about ways to improve drawing. Apparently you can become an expert in any field with 10,000 hours of practice. I dunno about that! I'm sure you have to have a flair for the subject matter. Reading all these blogs just made me want to constantly draw....non-stop.
Anyways I began some practice with some sketches of animals.

I'm slightly Tom Hardy obsessed...

I thought as my traditional portrait of him went a little wrong...I would practice to paint Tom Hardy digitally. I made some new brushes which I love! I fiddled with a load of the settings on Photoshop which really helped. I kinda have too many to choose from now. My digital paintings always seem to come out too smooth and never enough texture - this is something that I really wanted to work on. I downloaded some free oil textures to experiment with. It's coming a long so far...only thing is....it's going to take so long to finish! If only I had a cintiq...

Beach Pier Background.

I'm working on backgrounds for a former classmate's masters film a the moment. Exciting :B Look at his work HERE!
The film takes place on a pier - I was given great reference photos and some artists work to look at. This is the main artist that the backgrounds were supposed to take inspiration from! Janet Bell - so cute and simple, and I love the colours.

Janet Bell

I wanted my version to have similarities but with added shading and I guess my own style of drawing - even though I don't feel I have a particular style really.

These are a few props of trees and houses that would be in the backgrounds with the added Janet Bell twist.

And this is one background I've kinda finished..ish! I won't post anymore for now as I don't wanna spoil the film!

Hair Doodle.

I think I'm actually going to use this as a proper blog now..finally. I tend to post all final finished things but they will go straight on my webbysite.

Rushed sketchy, random stuff can hide here then. We'll see how long that lasts. This guy isn't fond of his new 'do.

Whut The, Doodle!?

I'm terrible with organising my mac sometimes. Finally cleared it all and started again but I still managed to find things hiding in folders. Sneaky.

I tend to doodle in Photoshop and then save it...somewhere and never see it again! So I found this "masterpiece"  When did I do this!? I'm scared.

Doooodle

I've made my own website! Here!

It's such a simple design and it still took me ages to code. The only thing is...it's very bare. I really want a brand new portfolio of work. I feel like I haven't drawn for ages since trying to make this!
I've been watching too much of The Ricky Gervais Show. I love the style. I would love to try and make a portfolio with a bit of that influence.

This was a doodle for the About Me section of my site. Sausage fingers. The eyes are bonked too. I need to practice more!

Animal Backgrounds

I've been doing a bit more freelance work. I was asked to produce some backgrounds for a children's website. The website features a range of animal characters and games. I had to produce backgrounds to show the animal's environment. The style had to fit into the tone of the website and the characters so I tried to do it quite simple - less detail and less photoshop painting! (which I love too much). More backgrounds can be seen here!

I Choo Choo Choose You

I was quite proud of this! Maybe I should have come up with an original idea but naaah. I've always wanted to make it. I'm surprised you can't buy it anywhere. I gave it to my boyfriend and the last time I went over his, he was using it as a coaster. How rude. My next card to him will be..."Let's BEE friends."

Chicks In Space.

I make the title sound worse than it is! But this is exactly what my manager said to do when designing this year's Easter Card!

Tom Hardy Painting

I wanted to get back into traditional painting for a while now as I have missed it. It's really relaxing. I've been doing bits after work but it is very time consuming. I've been working on a painting of Tom Hardy just so I get to look at his face for hours. :B I made his head too squished as you can see by the pencil marks - I'm gonna somehow try to extend his head. I want to get it spot on like him but it's not quite there yet.

Wanna Valentine's MUG?

We are making some Valentine's mugs for work and these are just some designs I've been messing around with. I quite like a lot of these but I don't think we are using any of them :(

Busy Busy!

My blog has been neglected lately, oops. I've been quite busy on the work placement I'm currently on. I've also been emailed about doing some freelance work. Some how people are finding my blog! I've been dabbling in different areas of design lately. I really want to get into graphic design. I keep buying a load of books which I can't afford. I'm also planning into making my own website....at some point.

Here's a poster I've been working on at my job placement - my manager has decided he wants to make a children's book. The adventures of Alfie the Astronaut!
